Free electrician invoice template

An electrician's invoice should separate the service call, labor, and materials. It should also record the work done, which can matter later for inspections and insurance.

    What to include

    • Your license number, since many areas require it on paperwork
    • Service address and date of work
    • Service call or trip fee, if you charge one
    • Labor hours and rate
    • Parts and materials, and permit fees if you passed them on

    Tips

    • Describe the work in plain words, such as which circuit or fixture you replaced.
    • Note any permit or inspection number on the invoice.
    • Mention a workmanship warranty if you offer one.

    Questions

Should I list the permit on the invoice?

If you pulled a permit for the job, noting the permit number gives both of you a record. Pass the permit fee on as its own line if you charge it.

    Do I charge a minimum?

Many electricians set a minimum service charge. If you do, show it as one line so the client sees why a short job costs what it does.
