    What to include

    • Your business name, contact details, and license number if your area requires it
    • Customer name and the address where the work was done
    • Service call or trip fee, listed on its own line
    • Labor as hours at your rate, or as a flat price per task
    • Parts and fixtures on separate lines with quantities
    • Emergency or after-hours surcharges, if any

    Tips

    • Describe the problem fixed, such as Replaced kitchen faucet cartridge, so the customer remembers the visit.
    • Keep the written estimate number on the invoice if you gave one.
    • State the warranty on parts or labor in the notes.

    Questions

Should I list parts and labor separately?

Yes. It is clearer for the customer and makes it easier to show your markup is fair. Many insurers also want the two split out.

Can I charge a minimum service fee?

Most plumbers do. List it as its own line, such as Service call (includes first 30 minutes), so it is clear what it covers.
